» The difference between carton flow racks and gravity racks

Although there are many types of storage racks, there are several types of racks in the shelf rack industry that can achieve automatic transportation of goods without the use of mechanical equipment. They are commonly referred to as carton flow racks and gravity racks. So, what is the difference between carton flow racks and gravity racks?

Carton flow racks

Carton flow racks, also known as sliding racks, use roller aluminum alloy, sheet metal, and other fluent strips. Utilizing the weight of the cargo rack, inventory is stored from one channel and picked up from the other channel to achieve first in first out, convenient storage, and multiple times of replenishment. Carton flow racks have high storage efficiency and are suitable for short-term storage and the picking of large quantities of goods.

Carton flow racks can be equipped with electronic labels for easy management of goods. Commonly used sliding containers include turnover boxes, parts boxes, and cardboard boxes, suitable for large quantities of goods and short-term storage and picking. Widely used in distribution centers, assembly workshops, and warehouses with high shipping frequencies.

Gravity racks

Gravity racking, also known as crossbeam racking or pallet racking, belongs to the category of pallet racking and is the most common form of racking among various warehousing racking systems in China. The fully assembled structure in the form of column pieces and beams is concise and effective.

Functional accessories such as partitions, steel plate (steel grating), wire mesh layer, storage cage guide rail, oil drum rack, and so on can be added according to the characteristics of the storage unit container equipment, which can meet the cargo storage of different unit container equipment forms

The difference between carton flow racks and gravity racks

1. The load capacity of the two types of racks is different. The load capacity of carton flow racks is usually around 500kg, while the single pallet load of gravity racks is generally within 1000kg;

2. The main structure of the racks is different between the two. The carton flow racks use the framework of medium-sized storage racks, while the gravity racks use the framework of heavy-duty warehouse racks;

3. There are differences in the internal structure between the two. In addition to being equipped with rollers, heavy-duty racks also have devices such as guide plates and damping rollers, while carton flow racks and gravity racks are relatively simple, with only fluent bars as the basic configuration;

4. The cost of gravity racks is higher than that of carton flow racks.

In fact, from the names of these two racks, we can see that the main difference between these two racks is their different load-bearing capacity. Carton flow racks and gravity racks are two warehouse racks that are mainly determined for different products. Customers can choose which rack to use based on the type of product in their warehouse. There are many racks with similar functions in the market now, so choosing the appropriate rack based on the actual situation of the warehouse is the most important.
