» How to extend the service life of warehouse storage racks

As the main equipment for enterprise storage, the warehouse storage racks play a vital role in the enterprise’s storage management, making the enterprise run well. The storage racks are made of metal and have a certain load-bearing capacity.

For rack procurement, the most concerned issues are the stability of the racks, process problems, and the use time of the warehouse racks. We all know that any product has a service life. Once it exceeds this limit and continues to be used, it is easy to cause various problems, and serious ones may even endanger personal safety.

There are many factors that affect the service life of storage racks, such as the temperature, humidity, light, and ventilation conditions of the warehouse. If the humidity in the warehouse is too high, the storage racks will rust, reduce the load-bearing capacity of the racks, and reduce the service life. So what should we do to extend the service life of warehouse racks?

warehouse storage racks

1. Comply with the load-bearing range.

The weight of the goods placed on the warehouse racks must be within the load-bearing capacity of the racks. It is best for the warehouse cargo manager to mark the load-bearing limit on the storage racks. The principle of heavy bottom and light top should be followed, that is, heavy objects should be placed on the bottom and light objects on the upper floors.

2. Regulations on the use of racks.

Different warehouses and different goods have different convenient methods for the warehouse storage racks of each warehouse. Warehouse managers must formulate a racking use system so that every rack user can learn and abide by it.

3. Regular inspection and maintenance

Apply protective paint regularly to reduce rust, do daily inspections, fix any loose screws in time, ventilate in time, and keep the warehouse from being overly humid.

4. Equipped with professionals

Heavy-duty and high-rise warehouse racks must be equipped with power pushers, and the use and operation of pushers must only be operated by certified personnel.

5. Drainage and dehumidification

Avoid excessive sunlight exposure, ventilate the storage racks in time, prevent wet goods from being placed on the racks, and try to drain and dehumidify.

6. Equipped with anti-collision columns

Equip a set of anti-collision columns according to different racks, channel widths and transportation tools. Install anti-collision guardrails at the channel location. Most of the warehouse rack columns are deformed by collisions due to the use of pushers by non-designated personnel.

So if you want to extend the service life of storage racks, remember the six points mentioned above. The correct and reasonable use of warehouse storage racks is a protection for racks and personal safety, avoiding unnecessary dangers, and also bringing greater benefits to the company.
