Just as is the case with the walking surfaces in any manufacturing or industrial premises, selecting the most suitable form of mezzanine flooring can be crucially important to both safety and efficiency. Even the color chosen can be of importance, as different hues may be used to clearly indicate various designated areas. For example, red could indicate an area in which inflammable items are stored or perhaps where forklifts are in operation and may present a danger to pedestrian workers.

    Types Of Warehouse Flooring:

Of the various options available, the one that offers the greatest longevity is polished concrete. A common choice for covered car parking facilities, it is built to withstand vehicular traffic ranging from the large trucks that operate in loading docks to the compact 3-wheelers that are so invaluable in mass storing and picking operations. Where food and beverages may be stored, warehouse flooring will more likely be selected for its hygienic properties and ease of cleaning than its longevity.

Epoxy coatings and heavy-duty polyurethane screeds are there where the need is for a sealed and dust-proof surface. In addition, there are materials that may be used to coat cracked and irregular surfaces in order to restore their integrity, strengthen them, and render them level once again. While some surfacing materials may need to be acid-proof or resistant to organic solvents, in other cases, surfaces composed of hardwood blocks or coated with rubber may be quite sufficient.

Given the space limitations inherent in a walled structure, one of the most valuable forms of warehouse flooring is that which may be used to create additional space. Though the use of multiple layers of shelving or racking is the obvious way to ensure the best use of both the available horizontal and vertical space, there is a limit to the height of these structures, above which they are no longer practical. Instead, what is required is additional floor space and this can be readily acquired by the addition of a mezzanine floor.

Where a suitably designed, strong, and stable choice of shelving product is in place, this alone should be able to act as the support structure for the additional layer of Mezzanine flooring above.
