» Advantages and disadvantages of selective pallet racks

Selective pallet racks are the most widely used racks in warehouses in various industries. They have a wide range of loads and can make full use of space. With various forklifts or stacking machines, they can realize quick access to pallets or storage units. The warehouse rack is mainly composed of frames, beams, and accessories. The beams and uprights are combined by the plug-in, which is convenient for loading and unloading. It can be equipped with safety pins, a pallet support bar, an upright protector, and other accessories to ensure safety and reliability.

First of all, it’s necessary to carry out the work of container unitization. That is, to assemble the characteristics of the cargo packaging and its weight, and determine the type, specification, size, and single pallet load and stacking height of the pallet (the weight of a single pallet is generally within 2000kg). Then determine the span, depth, and layer spacing of the unit rack, and determine the height of the rack according to the effective height of the lower edge of the warehouse roof truss and the maximum fork height of the forklift.

Advantages of selective pallet rack:

1. Each pallet can be stored or moved separately from other pallets.

2. It can adapt to various types of shelves.

3. The height of the beam can be adjusted according to the requirements of the size of the goods.

4. Large cargo circulation, fast loading, and unloading.

5. The equipment is the simplest, the cost is the lowest, and it can be installed and disassembled quickly.

6. It can adapt to a variety of shipping machinery, building structures, and floors.

7. It can prevent cargo damage caused by the strength and rigidity of the warehouse rack.

8. The upper space of the warehouse can be used as much as possible.

Disadvantages of selective pallet rack:

1. When the height of the goods reaches more than 8 meters, corresponding shipping machinery is required.

2. Due to the large amount of channel area required, the storage density is smaller than in other warehouse racking systems.

Therefore, it is suitable for high warehouses, light or heavy goods, manual access, and large storage volumes. It is widely used in the fields of automobiles, electronics, machinery, and chemicals.
